Poetry

Fifth-graders have been learning about Haikus.  Here is a sampling...

Haikus - Grade 5

Fossils Treasure
Deep down in the ground
Treasures waiting to be found
Hiding all these years

Rivers
Cool and refreshing
A special resource to all
Swishy, swish, splash, splash

Tropical Forests
Lush green green forests
Juicy fruit and waterfalls
Tons of animals

Seventh-Grade Poetry

What is a Hero?
7th Grade

My Father is my hero:
He is like a soldier
trudging on.
His bravery and courage inspire me.
His sense of duty and devotion,
Are unwavering like a soldier,
Good times and bad.
My Dad is my hero;
There is no better teacher

Son to Loving Mother
7th Grade

She is a fire in the night
Guiding me through right and wrong
Which grants me clarity of sight
So I may spread my wings and fly

She is the Sun in the sky
So high up she rides the Heavens
She comforts me when I cry
With a smile on her face.

My Dad’s Patience
7th Grade

To have patience is a blessing.
Without we’d have nothing but a fight.
Your patience I am always testing.
With patience the world just seems right.

Your patience is like moonlight,
Lighting up my years.
Your patience kind, loving, and bright,
It chases all my fears.

Grandma's Wisdom
7th Grade

The wisdom that she has
Is such a beautiful sight
To behold.  Her knowing of
The workd is such a helpful hint.

Her journeys are embedded
In me so, like writing in a stone.
She moves on with new journeys
Leaving her old behind, and
Hew new weeping low.

Her actions are the ones I try
To follow and take.  Although
I fail, her wisdom helps me
overcome.
